There are two types of Wagering Requirements. One is known as Bonus Wagering Requirements and the other is called Deposit and Bonus Wagering Requirements. In Deposit and Bonus Wagering Requirements, the deposit plus bonus is multiplied. This type of requirement almost always doubles the wagering requirement. Every single new casino on our ranking page states either Deposit and Bonus Wagering Requirements or Bonus Wagering Requirements, except one casino, which states nothing. After you have learned the location of these terms, determining which type of requirements the casino has will only take 10 seconds.
The two bases
For the sake of this example, let's say you deposit $100 and are awarded a 100% match bonus, meaning you have a bonus of $100.
- 35x the bonus means 35 x $100 = $3,500 must be staked before the bonus money can leave.
- 35x the deposit plus bonus means 35 x ($100 + $100) = $7,000. Same advertised number, twice the turnover.
Here is the equation for all the offers: turnover = multiplier x (whatever the policy applies it to). The word to hunt for in the policy is the base: "the bonus amount", or "the deposit and bonus amount". The rest of this page is that statement.
One casino, both numbers
Bitguruz settles the argument by accident. There is a banner promotion which says "Wager x60". Bitguruz has a bonus policy, clause 3.12, which states that wagering will be 30x the deposit plus bonus. Outlining the policy further, if a player receives a 100% match bonus, 30x of deposit plus bonus is equivalent to 60x of bonus, which is the amount stated in the promotion. The policy and the banner are communicating the same requirements. Readers of the policy will think that 30x is reasonable, while readers of the banner will think that 60x is a steep requirement. Both are looking at the same offer.
Comparing casinos by the advertised multiplier is a pointless comparison. A "30x" on the deposit plus bonus is a more difficult offer than a "40x" on the bonus at any match percentage.
Why the match percentage changes everything
On the combined base, the effective cost per bonus dollar depends on the match. The lower the match, the more deposit each bonus dollar drags into the multiplication. At 30x on a deposit plus bonus, the same offer will be priced as follows:

The small "50% reload" that looks gentler than the welcome offer is, per bonus dollar, the most expensive line in the table.

The window is a second multiplier
Turnover without a deadline is a chore; turnover with a deadline is a race. Working through SpinSkull's deposit bonus would appear to require the least combined effort on the overall list of casinos as it carries a 25x on deposit and has a 48 hour time frame with a requirement to stake $5,000 at $2,500 per day. Wintino's offer would be more difficult as it has a $7,000 requirement and needs to be staked over 10 days at a pace of $700 per day. When evaluating an offer divide the turnover amount by the number of days. Offer requirements with time frames become significantly more difficult as a fair multiplier on a sprint time frame is essentially a race in which your deposit is the fee.
One last pacing note: max-bet provisions limit how fast you can run. With a $5 maximum bet, Bombastic's $4,000 of turnover would take at least 800 spins. Max bet and cap provisions are their own subject - the win caps and max bets guide maps them across the roster.
What turnover costs in plain money
There's a cost to turnover and it can be estimated with one labelled assumption. Assuming games maintain an average 4% retention on each bet, which is a reasonable amount if bonus-eligible games and weightings are considered, then $1,000 in required turnover would cost $40 on average. With this assumption, Beazt's $3,500 route at 35x would cost approximately $140 in expected losses to receive the $100 bonus, and the $7,000 route for the deposit and bonus at 35x would cost around $280 to receive the same $100 bonus. The offers will still retain their ranking, and the actual session would be either below or above average. Look at the cost of the turnover instead of the headline percentage.
What honest publication looks like
Two roster casinos show the standard the rest should meet. Beazt simply states its base and includes a general terms calculation example for a small deposit, the only casino we reviewed that does your calculations for you. SpinSkull has a self-service forfeiture button for bonuses and a live betting tracker in the account dashboard. The counterexample is Zizobet which advertises 550% on four consecutive deposits and states no wagering requirement anywhere on any of the pages we could find. Deposit-plus-bonus wagering FAQ
What does wagering on deposit plus bonus mean?
The requirement for the 35x offer is the sum of the $100 deposit plus the $100 match bonus. In this case, the total requirement for this offer is 35 x $200 = $7000. If we were to just consider the 35x bonus, the requirement would be $3500. So, for our example, the deposit-plus-bonus base roughly doubles the bill at a 100% match, and is relatively worse at smaller matches.
Is 35x wagering high?
Just looking at the number for the multiplier doesn't help. 35x on the bonus is around the industry midpoint. 35x on deposit plus bonus behaves like 70x at a full match, which is the expensive end. Always check the base of the bonus policy before evaluating the multiplier. Once you have that, estimate the number of days in the promotion window, and divide the total requirement by the window to get the daily requirement.
How do I calculate a wagering requirement in dollars?
The multiplier is applied to whatever the base of the policy is. Read the policy for the base (bonus amount or deposit and bonus), find the sum, multiply, then divide by the number of days in the promotion window for the daily requirement. For a deposit and bonus offer that includes multiple deposits, calculate the requirement per stage, since each stage usually multiplies its own deposit and bonus.
Why do casinos use the deposit-plus-bonus base?
It masks the true requirement of the offer. A 30x multiple on the deposit and bonus and a 60x multiple on the bonus are the same demand at a 100% match. In fact, we found one casino on our list printing both versions of its own offer, a banner saying x60 above a policy saying 30x. The smaller number is the one that goes in the marketing.
